![]() Warren Park Hockey - 2010/2011 TYKE Program The Warren Park Tyke hockey program operates to give children a fun introduction to hockey skills. Through practice and games the players are coached to improve their skills and understand team play in a relaxed environment. As with most ages, the kids just want to play a game but at the Tyke level practicing basic skills and equal participation are key to development. To ensure maximum participation and skill development the program consists of one (1) game and one (1) practice per week for all players/teams. The game consists of a 20 minute practice session followed by a 30 minute game. This ensures that skills are developed and the kids get lots of ice time. Practices are held on Sunday mornings and the full ice is divided into three zones for skating skills, puck handling skills, and a fun zone. Drills and activities are selected to challenge the players and keep smiles on their faces. To ensure equal participation and faster development the league and the coaches do their best to assess the children's skill levels and match them accordingly during games and practices.
Volunteers Volunteers are required to run the league, coach the teams and organize other events/fundraisers. If interested in volunteering then please indicate on the registration form. Sponsorship The Tyke program is sponsored by Tim Horton's. For the past two years, Tim Horton's has invited our Tyke players to play at the Air Canada Center. Additional sponsors are welcome at Warren Park and if interested in promoting your business within our community then please contact us. |
